Hi there!

My name is Monkey… I mean Dawn. Sometimes I forget I have a “real” name because I identify with this silly nickname in so many ways. A few years ago my fiancée started calling me “Monkey” because of my love for travelling, exploring new places, and always finding a way to make him smile. I never knew this cute nickname would become the start of my yoga journey that I would share with all of you.

Prior to yoga, I maintained an active lifestyle enjoying surfing, running, cycling and participating in various races. In 2011, I took my first vinyasa yoga class with a friend who encouraged me to try yoga to improve my flexibility and balance. That first yoga class gradually evolved into a daily home practice I have kept for the past two years. Since that time yoga has become part of my daily life which has kept my mind, body and soul in balance. I believe that anyone can do yoga. Yoga starts by taking that first full deep breath, feeling it in your body and then moving in a way that feels good for you.

Over the past four years I have expanded my knowledge and practice by attending various workshops with influential yogis such as Liz Arch, Elinore Cohen, Amy Ippoliti, Justin Reilley and Patrick Beach.  In 2014, I completed my 200 hour yoga teaching training with Liz Arch to deepen my own practice focusing on key alignments and meaningful sequenced vinyasa flows.  My intention is to bring a playful spirit from my heart that will INSPIRE, MOTIVATE and GUIDE you on your own yoga journey. My classes are 75 minute vinyasa based that will connect your breath to movement. Classes will be crafted for ALL LEVELS offering modifications within the asana, use of props like blocks or straps and offer flight opportunities for those yogis who incorporate arm balances and inversions within their own practice. Outside of yoga,

I am a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Masters of Science of Nursing (MSN),
I am a coffee lover,
I am a flea market shopper always always on the hunt for unique things,
I am a photographer who loves snapping pictures of my adorable family,
I am a gardener who enjoys quiet time with my little space outside.

I recently completed my StandUp Paddleboard Yoga certification with Paddleboard Bliss and look forward to starting my RYT 300 hours with Elinore Cohen in 2015.
